Cell phones saving lives?
It sounds contradicting, but Breathometer has shown that cell phone technology can save lives.
This revolutionary technology offers an on-the-go breathalyzer that ensures you never get behind the wheel when you’re simply too drunk to drive.
Those that use cell phones the most are at the highest risk of driving while intoxicated. This number only reflects a small portion of people that are affected from drunk driving. In the United States, a person is injured in a drunk driving accident every 2 minutes. In fact, 2 out of 3 people will be involved in a crash with a drunk driver during their life.
It’s an epidemic that costs $199 billion a year and kills 28 people a day in America.
The Breathometer Breeze was designed to fight against this epidemic and help save lives. Does it work? Absolutely.
How the Breathalyzer App Works
A pocket breathalyzer is a technology that the world has been waiting for. It sounds too good to be true; carrying a life-saving device in your pocket anywhere you go. The team behind the product didn’t just pop up overnight.
A crowd-founded project, the Breathometer would go on to be featured on the hit television show Shark Tank.
Mega-entrepreneurs deemed that the app was worthy of $650,000 and helped push the app’s development from the small-time to finally being what the creator, Charles Yim, envisioned: the standard in living-saving, breathalyzer technology.

Breathometer uses your phone’s wireless capabilities to conduct all of the BAC data collection and analyzation. The app is just part of the process. The true power comes from the pocket breathalyzer that is blue and stylish while being small enough to conceal.
Users will simply:
- Power the device and open the accompanying app.
- Breathe into the device.
- Wait seconds for the results.
Dependable BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) levels are provided. This is what will determine whether or not you have too much alcohol in your blood to drive, or if you are sober enough to get home safely.
Beyond the BAC level, the app will also estimate when your BAC will fall back down to 0.
This is a great feature for anyone that likes to go to the bar and doesn’t have a dependable ride to bring them home. With the ability to determine when your BAC level will be back to 0, you can stop drinking well before closing time, so you can still have fun while sobering up.
Get Home Safely
Breathalyzer levels are only part of the solution. Anyone that has ever been drunk knows that unless there is another option to get home, it may be difficult to not get behind the wheel and just start driving.
Breathometer realizes that this is an issue and provides you with a revolutionary experience.
Opening the app, the user will find ways to get home safely.
- Cab: With the push of a button, you’ll be connected with a local cab service. This allows you to book a ride and get home as quickly and safely as possible.
- Uber: Ditch the uncomfortable cab ride and choose to use Uber. This allows you to connect with drivers who are nearby and take a ride home in style.
- Designated Driver: One contact from your phone can be contacted directly to help get you home safely. This can be anyone from a best friend to a spouse or loved one that would rather you get home safe than risk driving.
These amazing options ensure that you get home safe and never have to worry about driving while intoxicated again.
Sometimes, you have no other option but to stay nearby until you sober up. This is a great way to meet new people and stay safe at the same time. There are a few options available right on the app that will allow you to stay in the vicinity without having to step foot in a vehicle:
- Find Some Food: Using your smartphone’s GPS, the app will search for local restaurants and display a list of restaurants that are currently open and nearby. You can even call a cab or use Uber to drive you to the restaurant.
- Grab a Room: If it’s too late, you can choose to grab a room. Local hotels will be listed that have a vacancy. If you’re too intoxicated to walk, you can use the Get Home Safe option to get you to the hotel.
These are fun ways to stay nearby and wait until your BAC drops back down to zero. If you’re a frequent drinker, you can also use the activity setting to see your habits. What this setting does is:
- Show your pattern of use.
- Display BAC over a week, month or year.
Ultimately, the activity data allows you to see if you’re starting to develop a problem and may need to reevaluate your drinking.

More About the Breathometer Breeze
There is a lot to love with this portable breathalyzer and a reason why it is so popular. The blue color is neutral and there is a clip, so you can carry it on your waist or shirt pocket if you like. Most users will put the device in their pocket or in their glove compartment box, but be careful of the heat as it may damage the unit.
Lightweight, this item only weighs 0.063 pounds.
Completely digital, you’re never left guessing what your BAC is at any given time. Using a one-step testing method, users are able to quickly test themselves to see if they may be too intoxicated to get behind the wheel.
The device is meant to determine BAC levels of 0.05% or higher.
In terms of accuracy, studies have shown that using saliva is almost as accurate as testing a person’s blood to find the concentration of alcohol in a person’s system.
The width and height of the unit makes it smaller than most smartphones. This item has a width of just 1.9” and a height of 0.63”. The depth of the unit is 2.38”. Most pant pockets will be able to fit the Breeze comfortably.
Some users have stated that their unit was inaccurate. This was done by testing the unit when no alcohol has been consumed. In this case, a person likely received a defective unit and the company will quickly dispatch a new unit at no extra cost. I highly recommended testing the unit when you’re sober first before relying on it for an accurate reading after you’ve been drinking. The vast majority of users have not had this issue.
A breath o meter coupon is not currently available, but the price of the unit has fallen by $30, making it highly affordable.
The unit is controlled by a coin cell battery that holds a charge for 16 months. There is no calibration or warm up time required when using the unit. The accompanying app is available on both iOS and Android, and has been tested on the following devices and more:
- iPhone 4s – 6+
- iPod Touch 5
- iPod Mini
- Nexus 5
- Samsung Galaxy S4 & S5
GPS is required for anyone that wants to use the Get Home Safely functionality, and Bluetooth LE Wireless technology is required to make the Breeze connect with the cell phone.
Life-changing and revolutionary, the Breathometer allows for accurate BAC results for an unbeatable price. With 28 people dying every day from drunk driving, this app has the potential to save thousands of lives per year – including yours.
If you ever consume alcohol, you owe it to yourself to drink responsibly.
